The Very StRAnGe but Good Days

It actually began some time ago but then it snowballed. I was rear-ended in my brand new car. Now, I have not had a brand new car in 15 years. That's because I have been so in love with my 2005 PT Cruiser Turbo Convertible. I still love Summer but most of my friends don't because they don't appreciate getting their hair blown to bits! My husband had finally talked me into getting a new car and I was crazy about my Santa Fe with his extended sunroof and all the bells and whistles that accompany new cars nowadays. The Wanderling (yes, that IS a Game of Thrones reference) was exactly what I needed and I was thrilled to have him (make note here that Summer is also still a member of our family).

I was just leaving a stop sign when a VW Bug rear-ended me. It was an interesting experience. I jumped out of my car, so upset. Took one look at the lady bursting into tears then spent the next 45 minutes trying to comfort her (while waiting for the police). I hugged her twice. She couldn’t believe how nice I was. I said, “Ma’am if this is the worst wreck we’re ever in, we are okay. This is fixable.” Was I upset? Yes. I was but we weren’t hurt. It is, after all, a car. Thank you, God, for perspective. She was so worried about how her husband was going to be so mad at her even though it was a mistake. I am so thankful I’m not married to someone like that, even if it had been my fault. All my husband cared about first was if I was okay. Fender benders. We’ve all had them. Grace is such a tangible thing, whether we’re the giver or receiver. I got my car into the body shop. The woman's insurance provided a rental. I wasn't going to take it but we had been planning a trip and I didn't want to take a trip in my convertible. I wound up in a large SUV. I was on my way to the police station, to get a copy of the report when someone pulled out in front of me. I rarely use my horn, very rarely, but this person was going approximately 3 mph in a 35 mph zone and was not speeding up. After a block, I felt it was time to alert them as I felt they were unaware anyone was behind them. Imagine my surprise when my horn wouldn't work. This really alarmed me because sometimes we need our horns to protect ourselves in a car. I was immediately told by Spirit, "You are not to worry, you are completely covered in safety. This incident has happened so that your actions can save someone else." Wow! Just, wow. I am so grateful God can use me as an instrument to affect someone I will never know. I finished my business then, on the way back to the rental place, I noticed a fairly large spider going across the dash. Now, I like spiders and appreciate them but this was a rather high standing spider that looked a bit menacing. Spider had my full attention! I asked, "Do you have a message for me?"

"Yes, thank you for asking! This is good. I'm glad you noticed me. Your wreck was random. No one was hurt but, by being flexible, you have allowed Creator to use you as an instrument for good. You showed grace to the woman who hit you. You showed grace to the person at the car rental place. You pointed out a true problem that will now be fixed for the next renter of that car and, indeed, you will save their life by doing so. By noticing and being aware of your situation, you are finding more and more ways for God to use you.

Lacey, you struggle constantly with natural cycles. I don't want you to feel bad about that as all humanity struggles with this and tries to manipulate those cycles. I will use your coleus plant in your dining area at home as an example. It is an annual plant. It is big and beautiful. You hated to throw it away as the frost and fall have gotten here. Since you have brought it in, it has made a huge mess on your kitchen floor. Do you not understand that coleus knew it was an annual? When coleus came back here to live it knew its life span was short yet you are trying to prolong it unnaturally by bringing this pot into your home. Humankind does this with so much! Part of your life lesson this time around is learning when to allow things to flow in their natural cycle. Coleus is part of that cycle.

Being who you are, you are now worried about saving me in this car. You are worried about how you are going to get me out before you turn the rental back in for another one and you are worrying about what you are going to use to pick me up with. Lacey, I came for YOU. You are the reason I am here."

At this point, I can no longer find Spider on the dash and I was looking for it. "Where are you?"

"I am no longer here. I was only here for you."

I pull into the car rental place and exchange cars. After I got home, I went outside to tell my husband about what had happened today. He was raking leaves and I went to sit down on the spa attached to our pool when I noticed two pieces of Rose Quartz on the border of the spa. I said, "When did you put two pieces of Rose Quartz up here?" "I didn't put any crystals there. I don't have two pieces of Rose Quartz to put there anyway." (Are you kidding me? I know Rose Quartz is the stone of self-love but I also know there are other properties as well. I work with Rose Quartz a great deal but I knew these two were not placed here for self-love. As I looked up the properties, I found the message, and, indeed, it was one I needed.) So, why am I telling you all this? Because somebody out there needs to hear this. Maybe you need to allow more grace into your life, for others or for yourself. Maybe you are struggling as I do with allowing the ebb and flow of natural life and natural consequences to play out. Whatever it is, my annoying no good days seemed to turn out okay, full of grace, because I kept my hands open and received. I will never know the person I have affected by turning my rental car back in but I trust Spirit and I am happy to allow God to work through me. Maybe next time you're having an off day, you can remember that we don't always know what's going on. We don't always understand the ebb and the flow but I know Someone who does and I believe I'll just turn it all over to Them! Until next time.....
