Did you know that snakes are found on every single continent of the world except for Antarctica? They have internal ears, not external ones. Snakes are carnivores and, since they do not chew, they are forced to swallow their prey whole. Although they do not have eyelids, they still sleep. Snakes have been known to live up to 100 years in the wild and to 170 years in captivity.
When speaking with another species, I always ask to speak with a representative from the collective (who is living in heaven) as well as a living individual. I do this because, many times, they each have very different messages.
This is a harder reading for me in that I am fearful of snakes. As I called in the collective representative, I apologized for this. Snake said, "Do not worry. I totally understand. Let's talk about it."
We are very happy to be involved in your animal readings, Lacey. Cast your fear aside. I know that your readers probably wonder why you would be afraid to call me but they do not understand that you see me here, right in front of you. As I have come to you as a rattlesnake, a breed you are familiar with, it can be quite unsettling to have a rattler right in front of your chair!
We are happy to be here today for we want to speak directly to your readers about their fear as well. It is greatly misplaced. While there are some of us that are venomous, most are not of danger to mankind. I realize that it is easier to kill a snake than to see what their species is but most bites occur when man is messing with us and Snake itself is terrified for their life.
Mankind does not have a good track record with Snake and we consider you a predator to us. We are both wary of each other. Most of you never see the many snakes in your environment for we have adapted quite well. We are rarely standing out in the open where we are highly visible. I realize this also poses a threat to you when you happen upon us.
Nine times out of ten, if you will back away and leave the area, we will mosey along. I realize that is still not comforting to many of you but I do want to say it for it is truth. We are quite necessary for your environment. Without us, you would be overrun with rodents, I can assure you. If you can learn to live with us, it is very rare for Snake to become aggressive when not threatened.
Now that this is out of the way, I would like to discuss some of our qualities with you for they would help you as well. We shed our skin on a regular basis. You do too but not in the same way. Ours is shed at one time. You, yourself, shed continually. I would posture to you that it would be good for you to shed your emotional skin on a regular basis. Yes. As humans are drawn to the moon and her cycles, so is all of life. Perhaps you could find a place in the cycles to literally make a date with yourself and shed your emotional skin, so to speak. This would help you to move forward in a great way. I know this.
We accept and love our environment. We are not constantly in a stress-filled place, trying to change things. We are aware we have no control over where we are so we live peacefully, usually unseen, doing our own business. This allows us the time we need to provide self-care. Many of you pay no attention to self-care yet I tell you, until you do, you cannot move forward well. That is why I am asking you to pay attention to your emotional being. It longs for a shedding, a renewing, a rebirth.
As I was honoring Snake for having come today, I commented on how much I loved this message. Snake said, "This is not said in judgement but in observation." Wise Being here.
The next snake to come in was a water snake, a copperhead.
I am happy to be here this morning, Lacey. It is so good for you to call us and to get past your fears. We are aware of them, you know. Most people have them; however, I see that you have been trying to learn more about us and to identify us. That is a good and wondrous thing! Education is key to our survival!
I live in Mississippi. I live in a fast flowing river and have a good life. My habitat is clean and well cared for by groups of people who are working to keep it that way. They frequently gather to clean my river's shores which is much appreciated. We have lots of fishermen in this river. I enjoy watching them as I too, fish.
I am never bothered by people for I avoid them. I know of your fear. The energy is palpable and all snakes are aware of it; hence, their protection of themselves and their hiding habits.
I honored Snake for coming. I found it quite awesome to know that they are aware of people's efforts to protect their environment! Hats off to all those environmentalists out there!
This is an ongoing series on my blog. I speak with domesticated animals on a very regular basis. Each time I speak with a wild animal, I am humbled, truly humbled, by their dignity and grace. We are so blessed to share this planet with them. Please help me to help them to spread their messages. Please share this post!
Should you be interested, I have spoken with many wild animals and insects. A comprehensive index with links to individual blog posts is here.
